War Flying Apron Featuring B-17 Flying Fortress Schematic is printed on a black canvas apron — one size, made to order and shipped within the United States.
The war flying apron puts the phrase B-17 FLYING FORTRESS across the top panel in bold white lettering, and the accompanying technical data reads as an official military specification sheet. Wearing it signals appreciation for historical aviation precision, and WWII historians and model aircraft builders feel it was made for them. Below the title, three line-art views show the aircraft from above, front, and side profiles, arranged vertically with two columns of approximate dimensions and weight metrics nestled between the front and side illustrations. The word RESTRICTED anchors the composition at the bottom right, reinforcing the document’s classified origins. Every element stays true to the original schematic format, avoiding decorative embellishment in favor of factual presentation.
The Graphic, Piece By Piece
White line-art defines the entire visual field, rendering the B-17 Flying Fortress in clean, unshaded outlines that emphasize structural clarity over artistic interpretation. The top view sits directly beneath the main title, followed by the front profile, then the side elevation, creating a vertical hierarchy that mirrors traditional engineering diagrams. Two distinct columns of text occupy the space between the front and side views, listing overall dimensions including length, height, and wing span alongside tactical empty and maximum gross weights. The placement of RESTRICTED in the lower-right corner completes the illusion of an unredacted government document, grounding the design in historical authenticity rather than generic novelty.
Days You Would Grab It
Aviation historians and WWII reenactors notice the precise replication of period-specific terminology first, recognizing the value in wearing accurate technical language. Gifting this war flying apron to a pilot veteran or airplane simulator gamer acknowledges their deep connection to historical aircraft documentation. In everyday use, it appears in workshop environments where detailed mechanical knowledge is valued, such as restoration garages or museum education centers, where its sober aesthetic aligns with professional standards rather than casual fashion.
Before Buying
Does the waist tie accommodate bulkier clothing underneath? Yes, each side measures exactly 42 inches in length, providing ample material to form a secure knot in front even when worn over heavy sweaters or insulated jackets without slipping or straining.
Can I wash this without damaging the printed details? The white line-art ink remains intact through standard washing cycles, retaining sharp edges and legibility because the design uses solid, high-contrast strokes that resist fading under normal household laundering conditions.
Why does the design include the word RESTRICTED at the bottom right? That term reflects the original aircraft specification’s classification status, indicating it was derived from confidential military documentation rather than public domain sources, which adds historical credibility to the schematic’s presentation.

Care
Machine wash cold, inside out, with like colours. Tumble dry low or hang to dry. Do not iron directly over the print — press from the back if you need to. No bleach, no dry cleaning.
The ink is water-based and cures into the fabric, so it will soften with the canvas rather than peel off it.
